There are times God shows up quietly.

When we have to pay attention, or we might miss it.

Times we only recognize His hand in hindsight.

A subtle urging. A friend’s advice. A timely post.

Maybe things working out this way instead of that doesn’t have dire consequences.

But God is always in the mix.

Then, there are times when the ground beneath your feet is completely swept away.

When you find yourself at the very end of your rope.

No options, no way out.

Nothing you can do. No choices left to be made because there are none.

When it takes everything in you to imagine there’s a next step to take.

But maybe you’re not meant to. Maybe you’re meant to stand still.

Because God is about to show up.

We hope we get the job (or that the manuscript sells).

We hope this guy’s “The One.”

We hope for positive pregnancy tests and negative cancer tests.

And although these are all good things, what happens when we don’t get them?
